"Theri" is a Tamil-language action-drama film directed by Atlee and released in 2016. The movie stars Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Amy Jackson in lead roles.

The story revolves around Joseph Kuruvilla (Vijay), a simple and loving single father who works as a baker in Kerala. He leads a peaceful life with his daughter Nivi (Baby Nainika). However, unknown to others, Joseph has a hidden past as a skilled and fearless police officer named Vijay Kumar.

Joseph's peaceful life takes a dramatic turn when a series of events unfold. Nivi's schoolteacher Annie (Amy Jackson) learns about Joseph's true identity and reveals it to the world. This revelation attracts the attention of a dangerous criminal named Vanamaamalai (J. Mahendran), who holds a grudge against Vijay Kumar.

As Vanamaamalai seeks revenge, he orchestrates a devastating tragedy that shatters Joseph's world. Filled with grief and anger, Joseph is determined to protect his daughter and seek justice for the injustice inflicted upon him. He unleashes his past persona and embarks on a mission to dismantle the criminal empire led by Vanamaamalai.

With the help of his loyal friends Rajendran (Rajendran) and Mahendran (Sathish), Vijay Kumar sets out on a relentless pursuit of Vanamaamalai. Along the way, he encounters various obstacles, engages in thrilling action sequences, and outsmarts the cunning villains.

As the story progresses, Vijay Kumar's path intertwines with Mithra (Samantha Ruth Prabhu), a lawyer who supports his cause. Together, they strive to bring justice to the victims and put an end to the reign of terror orchestrated by Vanamaamalai.
